The Chain Ranch near Medicine Lodge, KS has managed a large herd of cattle for many years and has had some of the best cowboys and working ranch horses around, winning several prestigious ranch rodeos. I have used Mike Jones and Rex Bugbee, two of the cowboys pictured here, in numerous paintings. To me they exemplify the real contemporary American cowboy. This cattle drive was done with the famous Barber County, Kansas Gyp Hills in the background.
