Every year young calves must be branded and vaccinated. This is typically done by a crew of cowboys on the ground while cowboys on horses catch them one at a time with a rope around the neck or back legs. My son Kerry when he was young has one healed on the Chain Ranch near Medicine Lodge, Kansas that is on its way to the ground crew.
